Originally from the UK, I’ve spent the last 26 years living abroad, 16 of them here in beautiful Valencia, Spain. Travel has always been one of my biggest passions. Even as a kid, I was the one who wanted to see what was around the next corner. That spirit of curiosity has taken me to many parts of the world — and inspired what eventually became Jon’s Tours.
How “Jon’s Tours” Was Born
Long before this became a business, “Jon’s Tours” was a nickname given to me by colleagues. I was known for planning fun, off-the-beaten-path adventures wherever I worked, especially on our days off. Whether we were based in a big city or a tiny town, I was always the one finding the best places to explore — and dragging everyone along with me!
I’ve set myself a personal goal: to visit at least one country for every year of my life. So far, I’m more or less on track. But despite all my travels, one of my absolute favourite countries remains the one I now call home — Spain.
Why Spain? And Why the Valencia Region?
For many visitors from my home country, Spain is all about sun, sea, and sangria — and while those are certainly enjoyable, there’s so much more to discover. Spain is full of mountains, nature, castles, vineyards, medieval towns, and incredible regional food — especially here in the Valencia Region.
For nearly a decade, my previous job took me all over Spain — especially the Valencia area. I’ve explored major cities and tiny villages that don’t even appear on most tourist maps. Many of the most magical places I’ve discovered can’t be reached easily by public transport — and that’s exactly what inspired me to launch Jon’s Tours.
Turning a Passion Into a Project
The idea of creating Jon’s Tours has been on my mind for years. Now, I’ve finally taken the leap to make it real. My goal is simple: to share my passion for Spain with you, whether you’re a first-time visitor or a long-time resident looking to discover something new.
I want to take you beyond the typical tourist trail — to the hidden gems, the quiet corners, the places that make you say “Wow, I never would have found this on my own.”
